Baller On A Budget
Welcome to the second installment of Baller On A Budget (BOAB). If you didn’t catch the first, I’m Chris Horton, basketball coach and creator of HortonBasketball.com. Each week I will give you a baller under $4,500 that will help your daily fantasy team earn real cash.
With injuries being one of the major headlines of these playoffs, many lesser known players are getting opportunities to produce in “next man up” roles. One of these next men up is Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Kent Bazemore. Bazemore entered the starting lineup in Sunday night’s Game Three in place of the injured Kyle Korver (out the remainder of the postseason). In his first postseason start, Bazemore posted 32.9 fantasy points (FPs), more than top-priced shooting guard James Harden’s Game Three output!
Bazemore is an effective player in real life and fantasy land because he is so active. He isn’t a specialist out there only to hunt threes or be a defensive stopper. Rather, Bazemore uses his high energy level to impact multiple facets of the game, putting numbers in every stat box. Bazemore’s energy level first got him noticed in Golden State…and he wasn’t even playing. Think a smaller, more talented Corey Brewer when trying to characterize Bazemore’s skillset.
Best of all, Kent Bazemore will only cost you $2,400, by far the lowest price for any player starting on the four remaining playoff teams. The only potential drawback to the Bazemore selection is that we have to trust the same coach that read last week’s BOAB and succeeded in sabotaging Dennis Schroder’s campaign. But not this week, Coach Budenholzer!
If you’re trying to fill out the remainder of your fantasy lineup on a tight budget, you can still have a tight baller. This week it’s Kent Bazemore.
